Hospital D'Igualada (Barcelona) premiered its new heliport

"In the beginning of this week D'Igualada Hospital helipad starts fully operating which will significantly facilitate the process of the transfer of patients to the hospital in case of injuries resulting from the accidents" - stated the Health Consortium d'Anoia.

The Biggest Aluminium Helipad Ever Built

On  July 1st, 2010 the opening of Algeciras Heliport , the second of the Aena (Spanish Airport Authorities) network, took place in the bay of Algeciras. Bayards Aluminium Constructions was proud to take part in this project by delivering  a completely assembled aluminium rooftop helipad. The heliport has a crucial importance for Campo de Gibraltar region due to its significant merchandise location and social and economic development.

Firm Foundations

Take-offs and landings are two of the most critical moments in helicopter operations, with the greatest risk of accident, and they therefore require a stable, substantial platform with suitable lighting and fire-fighting systems. While a simple concrete slab may be adequate for ground sites, or when it can be incorporated into the plans for a new building, helipads that are installed on an existing structure or platform need to be inherently more sophisticated. Due to the key requirements of modern helipads - being lightweight in nature, and possessing good anti-skid properties, sufficient strength and stiffness, ease of installation and resistance to corrosion - aluminium has been widely adopted as the material of choice.

Valhall-platform installed with the first aluminium heli hangar ever

The Netherlands scores another offshore-first. This time it is Bayards Aluminium Constructions that takes all the credits. On Tuesday September 15 the very first aluminium heli hangar ever built in offshore-history left the impressive production hall on the yard located at Heijningen in the Dutch municipality Moerdijk (25 km South of Rotterdam).

Helicopter decks for offshore applications have to withstand all the mood swings of Mother Nature in order to safeguard the transfer to and from the helicopter. Whatever the situation, the helideck has to remain accessible and safe at all times. But next to be strong, the construction has to be as light as possible. Aluminium helidecks from Bayards meet the strict requirement.
