One of our outstanding projects for the Offshore industry is the BP Valhall Re-Development project.

This was the very first aluminum helicopter hangar ever built in the history of the Offshore industry. A shiny masterpiece, amalgamated by means of Friction Stir Welding (FSW) method.

Bayards was granted with the provocative task to engineer and construct an aluminum helicopter hangar of 20 meters long, 17 meters wide and 9 meters high. Bayards was also chosen for production of external aluminum stair towers. The order comprised three stair towers of respectively 33.5 meter and 15 meter long, all of with incorporated heat shields on both sides, in addition to a horizontal aluminum escape route 15 meters long.

One of the challenges of Valhall helicopter hangar-project was the complexity of the actual design.  For all parties involved, it was their first experience of working on such project and the design therefore was a 'living'-document. Thanks to a combination of specialist engineering, professional project management and top quality of the latest welding technology, Bayards has considerably reinforced its leading position on the international rank list of engineering, design and fabrication companies of aluminum structures for the offshore industry with the successful completion of this highly complex project.
