Bayards is not a company, which only makes standardized helidecks. Regulations, location of the helideck on the vessel/rig or client`s requirements can make a helideck design bespoke.
In most cases we can fulfill these requirements easily with standardized solutions. However in some cases it requires a more customized solution.
Designing and building helidecks is an important part of Bayards business but we are far more than that. Bayards is a specialized aluminum fabricator in the broadest sense of the word. At Bayards we welcome engineering and construction challenges, such as hydraulically foldable helidecks, reopenable hatches in helideck, hybrid helidecks etc.
Foldable helidecks
Some vessels have a smaller hull breadth than the helideck. This can be a problem in a few cases, e.g. entering the Caspian sea's locks, or the Suez channel. Problems can appear while mooring alongside a quay, or in heavy weather conditions when the vessel could start catching the waves which can damage the helideck. As a solution Bayards offers a tailor made, according to all client's requirements and vessel's specifications foldable helideck. For the third-generation rapid response rescue vessel Stril Poseidon Bayards has engineered and fabricated a customized helideck folding time of which is approximately two minutes.
