Complete Turn Key Helidecks
Bayards' approach in the USA is the turnkey helideck solution. This means that we design and engineer the entire helideck structure. The helideck is pre-fabricated in our facilities in the Netherlands where after the helideck is shipped as an assembly kit in standard containers to the clients' yard. Upon arrival, we will assemble the aluminum structure with our local assembly crew and install all piping and outfitting equipment, such as lighting and fire fighting.
Once the helideck is lifted on the platform or vessel, it is just a matter of Plug & Play.
The earlier we are involved in a project the better we are able to assist the client. In this way, the loads and reaction that the aluminum helideck would transmit into the platform or vessel when placed on top or cantilevered out can be advised. To start the design of the helideck itself, a GA drawing, the applicable Civil Aviation Authority and information about the largest helicopter type are sufficient. After concluding the engineering phase, Bayards will obtain all the required design approvals from e.g. ABS, DNV, Lloyds RS etc.
When engineering is completed and approved, pre-fabrication in our facilities starts. All landing surface profiles, trusses, platforms and stairs are CNC machined. All material is cut to size and bolt patterns are provided to ensure a smooth and fast assembly on site.
As soon as the prefabrication is finished, all materials are carefully packed in 40ft containers and transported to the client's yard. Bayards' logistics team takes care of all shipping arrangements, including custom clearances, import duties and inland transportation.
Once the helideck assembly kit has arrived at the clients' yard, Bayards' local assembly crew will assemble the helideck structure. The team will bring all necessary tools and equipment required for the job. The helideck is a completely bolted structure, meaning: no hot work is required during assembly.
After the structure is assembled, all electrical equipment is installed and landing markings are applied. The only items Bayards requires from the yard are assembly space, water and electrical power. As yard cranes are typically very busy and overbooked, even a mobile crane can be included in our scope.
As soon as the complete helideck structure is assembled and the lighting and fire fighting systems are installed, the helideck will be commissioned and handed over to the client.
Bayards will provide a lifting arrangement and lifting lugs to lift the helideck structure on top of the platform or vessel.
